BACK HOME is the first fashion film by HELIS, the emerging Montreal-based duo composed of Clarisse Bessard and Elisabeth Atchadé. As graduating designers from École Supérieure de Mode, they invited us to translate their collection into a sensory motion piece rooted in emotional disorientation and identity-seeking within overstimulated environments. The collection takes visual and thematic cues from the seductive chaos of casinos—spaces that blur the lines between pleasure and excess, control and surrender. With textured silhouettes, reimagined tuxedos, and details drawn from the absurd theatrics of gambling culture, each look embodies a character caught between euphoria and decay.

Through dreamlike tableaus and surreal imagery—echoing both 60s nostalgia and dystopian futurism—the film crafts a cinematic playground where garments, gestures, and environments dissolve into one another. From moments of collective elation to intimate unravelings, the narrative unfolds across symbolic vignettes that mirror the volatility of selfhood in hyper-connected spaces.

Officially nominated for Best Canadian Fashion Film by the Canadian International Fashion Film Festival (CANIFFF) 2024, the film celebrates artistic risk, collaboration, and storytelling at the edge of fashion and film.
